The Apple Watch 2 (or simply iWatch 2) is finally here! As the successor, the Apple Watch Series 2 smartwatch addresses much of the shortfalls of the older model with enhanced performance and design changes. Following the annoucement of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the Apple Watch series 2 is definitely a gadget to watch out.

Apple Watch 2
Splash & Water Resistant
First, it is swim-proof! It’s now a water resistant smartwatch which can withstand water pressure of up to 50 meters. Apple made a major overhaul on Apple Watch’s internal design like the new built-in speakers which now ejects water automatically upon contact. This is a much welcomed feature especially for swimmers and outdoor athletes who want to experience the elegance and power of the Apple Watch.
Apple also added two new workouts in its Activity app, the Pool Swim and Open Water Swim. It includes new swimming algorithms to accurately calculate metrics such as distance, lap counts, and calories burned.
Unlike the older version, the iWatch 2 now comes with built-in GPS. Meaning, it no longer requires an iPhone as a companion device to track distance especially when walking or running. A big kudos to Apple for making this possible!
As expected, the Apple Watch series 2 is run by the new Apple S2 dual core processor which translates to 50% faster performance. It also packs a new GPU for 2 times more graphic performance than the series 1.
Aside from the processor, Apple has further improved the Apple Watch display which is now 2x brighter at 1000 nits. This means better screen display when outdoors in direct sunlight.
The Ceramic White and Nike+ editions were added as new style options for the Apple Watch 2. The Ceramic edition tends to be in the high end pricing bucket but promises up to 4x more turdier than the current stainless steel model.
Apple has also parterned with Nike to come up an exclusive Nike+ Apple Watch 2 edition. It offers fitness-centric features which pushes its users to be more active and healthy. It comes in 4 different colors.
Price and Availability
The new Apple Watch series 2 price starts at $369. It will be available in late October 2016. The original series 1 model will also ship the same dual core S2 processor with a $100 price cut at just $269.
Watch OS 3 is also available for download starting September 13, 2016.
