Sony latest high-end flagship phone, the Sony Xperia Z3 has finally landed the Philippines shores with a whooping price tag of ₱34,990. First announced last September of this year, the Xperia Z3 has been available in the country for quite some time already but it’s only this October that it’ll be officially retailed in different Sony stores nationwide.
Aside from the Z3, Sony has also introduced a couple of devices like the Xperia Z3 Compact (a lighter version of the main Z3), the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and the Sony SmartWatch 3.
The Sony Xperia Z3
The Xperia Z3 is obviously the successor of the less than a year-old Xperia Z2. Like any other upgrades, the Z3 offers a few hardware updates as well as design tweaks to further push the phone close to perfection.
The Z3 sports a huge and bright 5.2-inch IPS Triluminos screen display covered by a shatter proof glass. Powering the device inside is a 2.5 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, an Adreno 330 GPU, and 3 GB of RAM. Main camera shooters are kept the same as the Z2 at 20.7 Megapixels but offers a few more enhancements in terms of light sensitivity.
The Xperia Z3 still maintains the familiar Sony design with sandwiched glass and aluminum frame built of the Z series. But compared to the Z2, the Z3 is a little thinner by 0.9mm and lighter by 11 grams. One noticeable design change also is the curved aluminum edges which feels much better on the hands. Moreover, Z3 now sports a dual front speakers for better sound quality and coverage.
Another strength of the Z3 is its long battery life of up to two (2) days as Sony claims. With 3,100 mAh battery, Sony has made the Z3 more efficient to squeeze every last ounce of battery it has. And ofcouse, the new Z flagship wouldn’t be complete with it infamous water and dust proof features which is now an IP68 certified device which means that the phone is “dust tight and protected against low pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP65; and/or can be kept under 1.5 m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP68“.
Software-wise, the Z3 still comes with the same custom Sony UI but now runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS out of the box.
