Cheap Budget Android Tablets?

Looking for cheap budget tablets this Christmas? These 5 cheap but very capable android tablets might be the answer to your dilemma.

It’s only a matter of days from now until Christmas day and everyone’s very busy buying gifts for our respective godchildren, family members, friends, and even for own selves. Guiding us during our shopping activities are various Christmas wish lists, which we are longing to either give or get this Yuletide season.

Among the top choices and most in demand item in everyone’s wishlist is to own a new gadget this Christmas – particularly an iPad or any Android tablet. Because of its versatility and portability, there’s no doubt that it is a big hit for consumers of all ages. But it’s also not a secret that these gadgets come with a hefty price. If Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Google Nexus 7, or Kindle Fire HD is not within your budget range, there are still other alternative budget tablets (some are almost as powerful) to choose from.

AINOL Novo 7 Flame

Ainol Novo 7 Flare/Fire tablet

The Ainol Novo 7 Flame grabs my top spot for the best budget android tablet under 10K. This cheap but powerful android tablet comes with a high resolution IPS screen display that’s very handy and perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. Performance wise, it’s almost at par with other high-end tablets (like the Nexus 7) thanks to its dual core CPU & GPU, 1 gigs of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage that can still be expanded up to 32GB via microSD slot (a major advantage I guess for storage-hungry users). By default, it comes with Android 4.0 OS Ice Cream Sandwich but can be upgraded to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. You can also expect a longer device usage / battery life courtesy of its whooping 5,000mAh battery.

StarMobile Engage 7HD tablet

Officially released just this month, the Starmobile Engage 7HD android tablet is another good alternative for budget conscious individuals. Behind its classy and solid design is a hardware that can’t be rejected. It sports a 7-inch IPS display with 216 pixels per inch (ppi), a dual core CPU and graphics and 1 gigs of RAM. Although it only has 8GB of internal storage (slightly lower compared to Ainol Novo 7 Flare), it’s also expandable up to 32GB via microSD. Another major plus with this device is its 8 megapixels auto-focus w/ flash back camera that can certainly take a more than decent photo from a tablet. Battery life is also good in this device, which runs Android 4.0 OS Ice Cream Sandwich by default.

ARCHOS 80 Cobalt

Slightly bigger than the first two, Archos 80 Cobalt also has a potential to become your next cheap android tablet. It boasts an 8-inch HD screen display, a 1.6 GHz dual core CPU and a quad core graphics processor (GPU), which is definitely perfect for heavy resource games and apps. Aside from that, it also supports up to 64GB of extra storage via its microSD slot in addition to its default 8GB internal storage. One disappoint though that I found with this budget tablet is its low-resolution rear and back cameras, which are only 2 megapixels and 0.3 megapixels (VGA) respectively.

Another good alternative android tablet is the Ainol Novo 7 Crystal. For only Php 6,700 pesos, you’ll get in your hands a cheap tablet you’ll never regret buying. It’s got a 7-inch IPS display, a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, a dual core GPU, 1 gigs of RAM, and comes with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS fresh from the box. Although it has a reduced camera quality and battery life, its low pricing scheme can surely compensate. If you’re looking for cheap tablet to give to your child or for yourself to read eBooks, I’d definitely recommend this one.
