December 2011 will be a big event for Globe and Smart as both Philippine telecommunication giants will offer Apple’s latest iPhone 4S officially to Philippine mobile subscribers early next month.
Last week, I blogged about Smart offering iPhone 4S exclusively in the Philippines. While this is true, Globe Telecom (Smart’s competing mobile telco), will be offering iPhone 4S too to Philippine mobile subscribers in the coming weeks. This was confirmed by Globe’s CEO Ernest Cu himself in a company event held at Manila Peninsula – Tuesday night, November 22.
This announcement was a big shocker for many since for the past few years, only one Philippine telco officially offers an iPhone device (formerly, Globe). Now with both Globe Telecoms and Smart Communications to offer iPhone 4S in the Philippines, the most interesting thing that mobile subscribers should take a look at will be the plan, services, and pricing differences between Globe and Smart iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S is priced not less than Php 40,000 pesos for the cheapest model (16GB) in gadgets and mobile stores nationwide. We will soon find out Globe and Smart’s iPhone 4S prices in the coming weeks.
