Good news for Smart subscribers here in the Philippines! Smart Telecom – a Philippine mobile service provider plans to launch a free service for subscribers who agree to receive unlimited advertisements on their cell phones, company officials said Tuesday.
Subscribers will get 100 pesos (US $2 or €1.3) worth of prepaid service every month, and every ad they view on their phones will earn them extra service and other rewards, said Ardie Balderama, marketing officer for Connectivity Unlimited Resources Enterprise Inc., a subsidiary of Smart Communications Inc.
“For our subscribers, it will be like earning money by watching commercials on television or viewing print ads in newspapers and magazines, except they will do it through their mobile phones,” he said.
The service will be available by invitation only and limited to 10,000 subscribers every month, he said.
Sales director Noli Romualdez said the provider was negotiating with several corporations keen on creating mobile-based advertisements for personal care, food and service products, among others.
The new phone service will be launched June 1, using the Smart network.
Smart is owned by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., the largest telecoms provider in the country.
